This national centre of excellence is a Teaching School and a Development & Research Centre for children with special needs.
It is a world class facility for teacher training and research in education. Teachers come from all over the country, Europe and from as far away as Australia to understand and improve their teaching of special needs. We lead an alliance of outstanding teachers and professionals who are committed to raising standards in teaching and improving the quality of education for children with special needs.
The teaching school has 232 learners aged 2-19 with complex learning difficulties, emotional, behavioural and communication difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), dyspraxia and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
We are committed to providing the best teaching, underpinned by vigorous research, that will allow the ‘Swiss Cottage method’ to be replicated around the country and internationally.
